Massive Darkness 2: Hellscape - Satyrs
Whilst I was fishing around in the Massive Darkness 2 box for things to paint, eventually picking out the Undead, I also happened across the Satyr. Being essentially just skin, fur and weapon I figured they’d paint up really quickly.
I started by priming them with Rustoleum Espresso Brown, which as it has a satin finish I then gave a coat of AK Interactive Ultra Matt varnish. This both took the shine off and also meant that the high flow contrast and speedpaints would adhere better to the model’s surface. Like the Undead the models also got a zenithal highlight of Two Thin Coats Griffon Claw and a drybrush of Pallid Wych Flesh.
At this point the skin was basically done so I just had to fill in the rest of the colours. To get things started I gave the fur a coat of Army Painter Speedpaint Burnished Red, The horns meanwhile I painted with Skeleton Horde. For the weapons I painted the handles with Wyldwood and the heads of the axes with Ratling Grime.
The leader of the mob had a few extra details that I needed to pick out. I painted the wraps on the weapon handle and the gloves with Snakebite Leather. Any jewelry he had on I picked out with Scale75 Dwarven Gold.

With that done all that was left to do was to give the skin and gold details a wash of Army Painter Strong Tone and then drybrush the ax heads with Necron Compound.
As the bases were pretty much dark brown I decided to take advantage by giving them a nice thick coat of Agrellan Earth. Which once dry would show the dark brown through the cracks. The crackle paint can be a little fragile so I sealed it down with some Geek Gaming Scenics Matt Sealant spray. Finally I painted the rims of the base with Two Thin Coats Dungeon Stone. And with that, another mob was done.
