Rest Eterna - Strike Team Baraqiel
If I was going to take on the undead horrors reawakening on Eterna I was going to need some grizzled soldiers. I had used the basic soldier profile for the Prologue but now in the campaign proper I needed to roll up three characters. The Bug Hunt character creation tables are a little different to the ones in the main Five Parsecs from Home rules. So armed with a box of Battle Sisters and some dice, I got to work. The plan was to see what I got then build an appropriate model from the kit for them.
Sister Jenine

For the first character, she rolled an Extended Campaign for her service history. So to make her look a bit of a veteran, I chose to build the model with the bionic and set aside the head with an eye patch for her. I pictured her as the eldest of the three characters, gruff and grizzled from years of war. A bit like Veteran Sergeant Sidonus from the Space Marine video game. If I had a Celestian Sacresants kit available to me I might have made use of that but a Battle Sister would have to do.
Superior Silvia

If Jenine was going to be my grizzled advisor, then I needed someone for her to advise. For that reason I decided to make the second character using the Sister Superior model. Silvia, as I decided to call her, expects the very best from her subordinate. Prior to the war on Eterna she had the honour of wearing a Paragon Warsuit in anti-piracy operations under the command of Admiral Ambrose.
The other reason that I chose the Superior model is that I could give her a Condemnor Boltgun. At the beginning of each mission in Bug Hunt you can equip your characters with a boarding sword, carbine or a shotgun; and as the Sororitas don’t use shotguns I figured that a stake-firing combi-bolter would make a suitable proxy.
Sister Alicia

That’s right, the plucky Novitiate Preceptor from the Prologue is now a fully fledged Sister of Battle. Despite being damn near disembowelled by a zombie she miraculously survived (thanks to rolling well on the Bug Hunt injury table), and the near death experience has only hardened her resolve. Alicia does however, feel like she has a lot to prove, being the youngest and newest member of the trio. I was tempted to give her a close combat weapon, like she had when she was a Novitiate, but decided to give her a standard bolter. For now. I may give her a chainsword down the line.
But what of the other characters in the Prologue? Reliquarius Freya and the Superior Palmora? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Painting
For the painting, I got them done in pretty much the same way that I had painted the Battle Sisters in the Combat Patrol a while back. With a couple of changes, for a start I primed them with Colour Forge Tempest Blue rather than priming them grey and airbrushing the armour Vallejo Night Blue. Secondly, the robes are Flesh Tearers Red contrast paint over a grey basecoat followed by sponged highlights just like I did for Edmark from the Darkwater boardgame. Both of them significantly reduce the painting time, and so I can focus on other things like the faces and all the little details that Sororitas models have.
